In 2011, a friend and I cycled from Land’s End (the southernmost point of the British Isles) to John o’ Groats (the northernmost point).
We took three weeks to make the journey, carrying all our kit with us on our bikes.
Near Liverpool, we visited Crosby Beach, home to Antony Gormley’s Another Place – a collection of 100 cast-iron life-size figures.
The trip revealed the British Isles as a stunningly beautiful place. And we were warmly welcomed wherever we went.
Our bikes were remarkably robust, with a single puncture and a broken gear cable the only problems in over a thousand miles of cycling.
